LobelAre You Ready for the return of Bob lobell? Well Bob has been filling in on his old radio station WBZ 1030 by the way and doing a good job.WBZ fired several of their ror olden air folks awhile ago. Also returning to BZ is Steve Lavelli who was replaced for about a month with the lamest syndicated talk show I ever heard!Listeners complained to WBZ about that one and got their guy Steve back on air.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino has complained about the revenue he says the city of Boston lost in the World Series of 2007 . Remember that one ? Sox swept the Colorado high Rockies in four straight but Denver Colorado gained more revenue than Boston!! Go figure. I agree with Mayor Tom on that one.Boston needs all the revenue it can get since most of the property is non taxable with all educational and health institutions expanding all the time. Nice of the Mayor Tom to have his elderly commission leave messages and a phone number to call if seniors are having financial problems in these tough economic times. Meanwhile are you ready for the big TV changeover comimg soon on February? Yaa thats the one I posted about a year ago. Check my blog archives for info on that. But the government seems to have run out of money for the digital boxes!!! Of course the Bush administration had plenty to bailout his Wall St. thieves!! Talk about rewarding the thieves!!!So how's Bernie Madoff doing these days? Now that surveys say people are saving more money they tell us we should be spending rather than saving!!!!! A big wtf on that one since "experts" have been telling to save more and spend less the last ten or more years as a way to ease the inflation or whatever those Wall St. thieves try to call their criminal acts!! Ya and more on the way.

I just returned from a gathering of some great neighborhood activists who gathered on this beautiful warm Spring day in Boston to share Pizza provided by NAG leader John Kelly and demonstrate and leaflet at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. NAG members felt the need for the people going to the museum to know that the MFA has closed sidewalks and force people to venture in the streets to walk on the rear area along the Fenway in Boston. The sun was bright the spirits high of the many activists as we did our work of handing out leaflets to let the problem become known to people who might not be aware of the problem. Such is the purpose of demonstrating. Yes, and the Pizza was great,Thank You John!!

On February 17 2009 Broadcast TV will change from analog to digital broadcasting. Viewers who are watching TV with the rabbit ears antenna will not be able any TV signals without the aid of a digital converter box. Viewers must buy either a new TV with a built in digital TV tuner or get cable TV service from a cable company! Stinks doesn't it. Well I have noticed on the radio newscasts today are not making statements to listners of how to get those coupons ,although they are mentioning about the impending changeover to digital TV. The Patriots swept their way to the Super Bowl going 16-0 during the regular season and winning two playoff games vs the Jacksonville Jaguars and the San Diego Chargers for a record thus far 0f 18 wins and no losses. Now on to the Super Bowl to beat the Giants and gain another Super Bowl Championship Trophy!!! Go Pats!!!!

Where Are They Now? The photo of all my co-workers and i gathered together during one of our after work dinner partys in Boston's China Town in 1960....does that bring back memories of my high school days! Hope everyone in the photo have moved on with their lives for the best. We worked in the restaurant section of Liggett and Rexall Drug store at 112 Tremont St. in downtown Boston and sometimes after work we would go for late night food around town.Ahhh those were the days!

The Ligget and Rexall drugstore was no ordinary drugstore with a lunch counter! We had two horseshoe shaped counters called bay 1 and bay 2 and a long counter with about 12 seats diner style of course and beyond the long bar was a group of booths for diners who wanted to have wait staff get their orders.That place was real busy from the time I worked there partime in 1957 until...well I don't know exactly when they closed . Fenway Park 1981

As Sherm Feller would say "Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls welcome to Fenway Park . Home of the Boston Red Sox" .But that was back in 1981 when Sherm used to be the Red Sox publicaddress announcer and as you can see the "Green Monster" was not what it is today in 2007. Now there are seats atop the wall and many ads on the wall. Hardly recognizable these days from what this old photo shows.The baseball season of 1981 was a season which baseball went on strike and the photo is from a exhibition game played just as the strike was settled and the season was about to resume. The Red Sox played the Montreal Expos with former Red Sox legend Bill Lee pitching for the Montreal Expos whom Bill had been traded to for the legendary Stan Papi!! Setting off the wrath of Red Sox fans that still simmers today !! Gee what a difference 26 years can make !! And by the way baseball fans wasn't that one of the greatest pitching performances Josh Beckett laid on the Cleveland Indians last night in Cleveland ? Yes ,one of the greatest playoff games in Red Sox history. Go Sox on to the 2007 World Series and beat the Colorado high Rockies!!!Meanwhile there is Joy in Red Sox nation as who knew JD Drew would come thru as he did last night in game 6 of the ALCS with the Sox on the brink of elimination,JD came thru and hit a grand slam home run as he had 5 rbis for the night and the fans went wild and saluted JD each time at bat as he justly deserved!!A special shout out must go to Mike Lowell and rookie of the year Dustin Pedroia as the two showed up to bring hot food to fans in line hoping to get tickets for the 6th game. Way to go Mike and Dustin.All n all a happy Sunday morning in Red Sox nation as joyous fans are eager for the 7th and final game of the ALCS of 2007.All are sure the Sox will prevail tonight!!!Another pennant awaits the red hot bats of the Red Sox hitters.Theme song for this game might be "We Can Work It Out".SOX WIN SOX WIN !!!The Red Sox did work it out in the 7th game of the ALCS in a close game for 6 innings finally ending the game on a spectacular deep centerfield catch by Coco Crisp who was put in as a defensive measure in the 9th inning. Dustin Pedroia the rookie of the year broke the game open with a 3 run homer off the tough pitching of the Indians Bettencourt and then Kevin Youkilis hit a homer off the coke bottle in left field and the sox wound up winning over the Indians 11 to 2. The World Series begins at Fenway Park on Wednesday vs the Colorado Rockies....Stay tuned....after the longest game in World Series history 4 hours and some minutes the Red Sox hold a commanding position in this World Series 2007. With three games won the Red Sox move toward another World Series Championship in Colorado after beating the Rockies 10 to 5 . The Rockies had lost only one game at home while winning their last 11 played at Coors park in Denver. SOX WIN SOX WIN The Boston Red Sox swept their way to the 2007 World Series Championship defeating the Colorado Rockies in 4 games!!! Red Sox Fans Celebrate Responsibly . Boston rocks as the city salutes the Red Sox World Series victory with a rolling rally . Sox players and others roll along the streets of Boston on a bright sunny October day with thousands of cheering fans jubilant with the latest World Series Championship. Now drama continues in Red Sox nation even though the last pitch of the baseball season was placed snugly in the back pocket of Sox catcher and team captain Jason Varitek. Will World Series MVP Mike Lowell sign a new contract with the Sox?....Dustin Pedroia celebrates his well earned Rookie of the Year honor but Josh Beckett barely missed out on the Cy Young award. The award is voted on by a select small group of 28 we are told but we wonder....Who are the elite 28?? and why shouldn't the post season play of players be considered in the handing out of awards????
